In our work lives, we often talk about the importance of leadership—leading organizations, leading teams—but we spend far less time discussing personal leadership: our accountability for our own success within the organizations we are part of.

Over the next few weeks, we’re launching a new product—one that has been years in the making—with a focus on personal leadership. The idea first took root in me as a parent of young adults, watching them navigate their career journeys. I’m sure they got tired of hearing me say things like:

“Being early is on time.”

“Do a little more than what’s expected.”

“Build relationships.”

“Treat people with respect.”

“Have direct conversations.”

“Demonstrate commitment.”

While they may not have appreciated it at the time, I like to think those lessons played a small role in the success they’ve had.

Throughout my career, I’ve also had the privilege of mentoring many individuals, and our conversations often came back to the same theme: personal leadership and personal accountability.

When Amanda Leuschen joined the team last year and we started talking about leadership, I shared my vision for creating a program specifically for non-leaders. She immediately saw the potential, and we knew we wanted to bring this program to life. But first, we needed to create our leadership training program, LeapForward, so that this new program could build on those foundational learnings—shifting the emphasis from leading teams to leading oneself.

These past few months have been a true labor of love (and hard work) as we developed this new offering. Although originally designed for individual contributors, leaders will also find value—whether for their own growth or to help reinforce these concepts with their teams.

We’re excited to share this with you—and we hope you will be too!
